GLA:D (Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark) is an evidence-based program designed to improve the management of osteoarthritis (OA) through physical activity and education. At Yates Physiotherapy, we offer the GLA:D program to help people with hip and knee osteoarthritis manage pain, improve functionality, and enhance their quality of life. The program consists of exercise training and education, targeting strength, flexibility, and joint stability.
Through structured sessions with our skilled physiotherapists, we provide the support needed to follow the program safely and effectively, helping you manage OA without the need for invasive treatments or surgery.
The GLA:D® program is clinically proven to reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis, improve mobility, and decrease pain by focusing on strengthening muscles around affected joints. By incorporating evidence-based exercises, this program can help you regain independence and reduce the need for pain relief. At Yates Physiotherapy, we provide personalised support throughout the program to ensure you achieve the best possible outcomes and continue to live an active and fulfilling life.
Personalised Exercise and Education for OA Management
The GLA:D program is structured into two key components:
The warm water relieves tension and lowers inflammation in the muscles.
The buoyancy of water makes movement easier and improves range of motion and flexibility.
The program has been shown to reduce pain, improve function, and slow the progression of osteoarthritis.
Here at Yates Physiotherapy, we run weekly 60 minute GLA:D classes at Fullarton and Woodcroft.
